Living Seawall Ribbon Cutting

The Town of Longboat Key is holding a ribbon cutting ceremony for our newest environmental project — the Living Seawall, created in partnership with the Sarasota Bay Estuary Program (SBEP).

The Living Seawall is designed to enhance our shoreline by blending traditional seawall protection with innovative ecological features. This project supports improved water quality, increased marine habitat, and greater coastal resilience while protecting property and infrastructure.

By working with SBEP and other partners, the Town is trying to take a step toward sustainability and stewardship of Sarasota Bay. The Living Seawall demonstrates how innovative design and community commitment can protect our island while supporting the health of local marine life.
