Brewing Ideas with UF/IFAS Extension (Calusa Brewing)

Environmental education moves into the taproom with Brewing Ideas, a series from UF/IFAS Extension Sarasota County held at Calusa Brewing, where local experts talk with residents over pints in an open discussion rather than a formal lecture. Extension agents Armando Ubeda of Florida Sea Grant and Randall Penn, who works on waste reduction, started it in autumn 2025. Early sessions took up oyster reef restoration and the closure of Midnight Pass, and the series ranges across water quality, storm and flood resilience, habitat restoration and cutting waste.
