Cinema at The Bay: Love Actually

Richard Curtis's 2003 ensemble comedy, his first film as director after writing Four Weddings and a Funeral and Notting Hill, follows a web of overlapping London love stories through the five weeks before Christmas, with Hugh Grant as a bachelor prime minister, Emma Thompson, Alan Rickman, Liam Neeson, Keira Knightley, Colin Firth and Bill Nighy as a washed-up rocker chasing a Christmas number one. It is one of three holiday titles in this season's free Cinema at The Bay lineup, shown outdoors on the Oval at The Bay with lawn seating and concessions from the Nest. The film is rated R, mostly for language and a subplot involving film body doubles, so it is the adults' night in a series that otherwise skews toward families.
