Demonstration Garden Tour: Visitor Center at Osprey Junction Trailhead

The Master Gardener volunteers of UF/IFAS Extension Sarasota County lead a walking tour through the cultivated grounds of the Osprey Junction Trailhead. The outdoor walk highlights the specific native plants and drought-tolerant species that thrive in Florida's coastal climate. Guides explain the principles of "Florida-Friendly Landscaping," demonstrating how strategic planting can reduce water consumption, minimize fertilizer runoff, and attract beneficial pollinators. The session serves as an active, visual classroom where local homeowners can observe mature botanical specimens up close and ask specific questions about implementing sustainable horticultural practices in their own residential gardens.
