Hands Only CPR/AED Training

Rapid response during a cardiac emergency is the focal point of this practical skills clinic held at Longboat Key Town Hall. Fire rescue personnel and medical instructors train residents on the mechanics of hands-only chest compressions, emphasizing proper hand placement, depth, and rhythm to maintain blood flow during cardiac arrest. The curriculum specifically omits mouth-to-mouth resuscitation in favor of continuous compressions, making the technique easier for bystanders to execute. Participants also practice deploying and operating an Automated External Defibrillator (AED) on training mannequins, demystifying the audio prompts and pad placement required to stabilize a patient until paramedics arrive.
