Joe Crookston

Ithaca-based songwriter and painter Joe Crookston brings his literate, character-driven folk music to the Fogartyville Community Media and Arts Center. Accompanying himself on a 1948 Gibson guitar, a fiddle, and a lap slide, Crookston builds intricate narratives populated by meter maids, thieves, and historical figures. His live sets frequently incorporate loop pedals and brief visual films, creating a multimedia performance that moves quickly from sharp humor to quiet reflection, anchored by his intense, communal stage presence.
