New Feet Within My Garden Go: The Poetry of Emily Dickinson

The Marie Selby Botanical Gardens pairs literature with nature across its Historic Spanish Point campus for the outdoor exhibition New Feet Within My Garden Go: The Poetry of Emily Dickinson. The installation distributes the 19th-century writer’s nature-inspired verses along the scenic trails, visually accompanied by illustrations from Abby Wright and botanical images sourced directly from Dickinson’s own preserved herbarium. An audio narration recorded by musician Patti Smith rounds out the immersive literary walk, grounding the historic texts in the surrounding Florida landscape.
