Singin’ in the Rain

Asolo Repertory Theatre stages a production of the classic musical Singin' in the Rain at the Mertz Theatre. Directed and choreographed by Josh Rhodes, the performance is based on the iconic Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer film, featuring a screenplay by Betty Comden and Adolph Green with songs by Arthur Freed and Nacio Herb Brown. The narrative presents a humorous send-up of Hollywood's transition from silent films to "talkies" in the late 1920s. Visitors will experience a large-scale musical theater performance complete with sweeping romance, elaborate tap-dance choreography, and memorable tunes, capturing the glamorous and often chaotic spirit of early cinematic history.
