Strauss and Surprises!

Venice Performing Arts Center Principal horn player Joseph Lovinsky steps into the soloist spotlight during The Venice Symphony's playful orchestral program at the Venice Performing Arts Center. The concert leans heavily into bright, effervescent repertoire, featuring Johann Strauss Jr.’s overture to Die Fledermaus and his stately Emperor Waltz. The orchestra also navigates the syncopated rhythms of Gypsy Earrings by contemporary composer Arutiunian Farah. Designed to highlight sudden dynamic shifts and soaring instrumental melodies, the repertoire balances traditional Viennese elegance with unexpected orchestral fireworks, utilizing the hall’s robust acoustics to full effect.
