The Bully Pulpit

Playwright Michael O. Smith resurrects the twenty-sixth president in his one-man biographical drama, The Bully Pulpit. Staged at the Keating Theatre, the play tracks Theodore Roosevelt’s trajectory from a sickly asthmatic child to a robust statesman, conservationist, and trust-buster. The solo performance relies heavily on Roosevelt's own letters and speeches, offering a detailed character study of a complicated historical figure grappling with personal grief and political ambition.
