Third Film of the Art Film Series at Burns Court Cinema

George Clooney directed, co-wrote with Grant Heslov and stars in The Monuments Men, a 2014 adaptation of Robert Edsel and Bret Witter's nonfiction account of the Allied museum experts sent to the World War II front lines to track down art looted by the Nazis. Matt Damon, Bill Murray, John Goodman and Cate Blanchett fill out the cast. The film reduces the real program to seven men and loosely fictionalizes them, but the recoveries it dramatizes include the Ghent Altarpiece and Michelangelo's Madonna of Bruges. It is the third title in the Art Film Series presented by Sarasota Estate Auction at Burns Court Cinema, followed by a discussion and happy hour at Gallery 506.
