Whalefall

Director Brian Duffield brings a claustrophobic survival thriller to the big screen with Whalefall, starring Austin Abrams and Josh Brolin. Based on the acclaimed novel by Daniel Kraus, the film follows a young scuba diver who is swallowed whole by a massive sperm whale while searching for his deceased father's remains off the California coast. Trapped with only an hour of oxygen, the protagonist must rely on memories of his complicated upbringing to escape. The theatrical release blends elaborate underwater special effects with an intense, ticking-clock emotional drama.
