Wild Sarasota: Bats of Florida

An educational lecture detailing the ecology and conservation of native winged mammals takes place at the North Port Public Library. The presentation covers the various bat species inhabiting Florida, their critical role in pest control, and the environmental threats causing their populations to decline. Attendees learn how to identify local species and understand their nocturnal behaviors. The program aims to dispel common myths surrounding the animals and encourages residents to consider habitat preservation strategies, such as installing bat houses in residential areas.
