2027 Sarasota Polo Season

Thundering hooves and traditional divot-stomping mark the opening of the winter equestrian season at the Sarasota Polo Club in Lakewood Ranch. Spectators line the massive, meticulously groomed grass fields to watch teams of mounted players execute high-speed tactical maneuvers, striking a small ball with long-handled mallets. The event balances intense, adrenaline-fueled athletic competition with a deeply entrenched tailgating culture, where attendees set up elaborate picnics and pop-up bars along the sidelines. The matches offer an up-close display of equine agility and rider coordination, continuing a decades-old sporting tradition in the eastern stretches of the county.
