Architecture Sarasota – 2026 MOD Weekend

Architecture Sarasota mounts its annual MOD Weekend, a multi-day symposium dedicated to the preservation and study of the Sarasota School of Architecture. The gathering centers on the midcentury modern movement that adapted Bauhaus principles to the humid Gulf Coast climate, emphasizing deep overhangs, cross-ventilation, and local materials. The schedule encompasses guided trolley and walking tours of significant residential neighborhoods, allowing access to privately owned homes designed by Paul Rudolph and Victor Lundy. Academic lectures and panel discussions at the McCullogh Pavilion supplement the architectural tours, contextualizing these regional structures within global design history.
