Conductor’s Corner 7: Chopin & Mahler

The Sarasota Orchestra pulls back the curtain on the classical repertoire with this educational talk analyzing the works of Frédéric Chopin and Gustav Mahler. Designed to give audiences a deeper structural and historical understanding of the music before it is performed, the discussion explores the contrasting styles of the two composers. The session breaks down Mahler’s expansive, emotionally turbulent orchestration alongside Chopin’s intimate, technically demanding piano compositions. Held at the Beatrice Friedman Symphony Center, the event offers patrons a chance to examine the scores through a conductor’s analytical lens.
