Sarasota Orchestra – Happy Holley Days

The Sarasota Orchestra presents its chamber-sized holiday program inside the acoustically refined Holley Hall at the Beatrice Friedman Symphony Center. The repertoire spans classical masterworks and lighthearted seasonal fare, featuring the overture to Engelbert Humperdinck’s Hansel and Gretel alongside the spirited Unter Donner und Blitz polka by Johann Strauss Jr. The musicians also tackle the traditional Hanukkah Festival Overture and Leroy Anderson’s perennially popular Sleigh Ride. The smaller venue allows the audience to hear the intricate inner voicing of the orchestrations, offering a highly detailed, classical approach to winter celebrations.
