Georgia Heers

Vocalist and composer Georgia Heers commands the intimate stage of the Historic Asolo Theater at The Ringling. An alumna of both Oberlin College and The Juilliard School, the South Carolina native brings a rigorous, academic command of vocal mechanics to her jazz and roots performances. Her set relies heavily on nuanced phrasing and a deep understanding of the harmonic architecture that underpins the Great American Songbook and contemporary jazz composition. The unamplified, acoustically pristine environment of the restored 18th-century theater provides the ideal setting to hear the subtle dynamic shifts and complex improvisations of a highly trained, emerging voice.
