Hermitage Sunsets @ Selby Gardens: “Words Spoken, Words Sung: An Evening with Ricky Ian Gordon”

Ricky Ian Gordon, a New York composer and writer whose recent premieres include The Garden of the Finzi-Continis and Intimate Apparel, spends an evening at Selby's Historic Spanish Point in Osprey, on the bayfront, talking about his work while it is sung. Thea Lobo, a Hermitage Fellow, and five Sarasota Opera Resident Artists perform selections from his songs, and Gordon, author of the memoir Seeing Through, shares how his practice took shape. The program is presented by the Hermitage Artist Retreat with Marie Selby Botanical Gardens and Sarasota Opera.
