Homeschool Book Club @ The Ringling

Literature and visual culture converge in this specialized educational gathering at The Ringling, developed for home-educated youth and their instructors. After reading a designated historical or arts-focused book, students assemble to dissect plot elements, character motivations, and historical context through facilitated group discussions. The group then enters the museum galleries to inspect specific paintings, furnishings, or circus artifacts that directly correlate with the book’s setting or period details. This dual approach helps young readers visualize literary environments and evaluate how historical events were documented both in print and on canvas, deepening their research skills and appreciation for material culture.
