Kimberly Akimbo

Florida Studio Theatre mounts David Lindsay-Abaire and Jeanine Tesori's Tony Award-winning musical about a New Jersey teenager navigating a rare genetic condition that causes her body to age rapidly. Staged in the Gompertz Theatre, the production follows Kimberly as she contends with family dysfunction, impending mortality, and a scheme involving a washed-up aunt. The score blends quirky comedic numbers with poignant character studies, demanding a delicate balance of humor and emotional gravity from the cast. FST brings this intimate, character-driven narrative to its mainstage, focusing on the dark comedy's underlying themes of time, acceptance, and adolescent longing.
