Sarasota County Schools Martin Luther King Jr. Day-Students, All Staff

The federal holiday honoring Dr. Martin Luther King Jr., first observed nationally in 1986, closes Sarasota County Schools for students and every staff group alike. The calendar treats it the way it treats Labor Day: no school and no work for anyone. It lands a couple of weeks after classes resume from winter break, and Presidents Day follows as the next day off for students and all staff, with spring break coming after that.
