Michael Ross & Friends

Harrisburg-born bassist Michael Ross leads a small group for the Jazz Club of Sarasota, working through straight-ahead jazz, classic standards, contemporary pieces and originals of his own. His mentors on the instrument included Cecil McBee, Dee Moses and Jim Miller, and he went on to front Liquid Bebop and the Michael Ross Quartet around Tampa Bay. Giraffe, his most recent recording, pairs new compositions with fresh readings of jazz classics. As a sideman he has worked with Nat Adderley, Jimmie Cobb and Herbie Mann.
