Psycho (1960)

A secretary on the run with stolen cash makes a fateful stop at an isolated roadside motel in Alfred Hitchcock's 1960 thriller Psycho. Janet Leigh stars as the doomed Marion Crane, who crosses paths with Anthony Perkins' polite but deeply disturbed proprietor, Norman Bates. Filmed in stark black-and-white on a low budget, the suspense film shattered cinematic conventions of its era, using meticulous camera work and Bernard Herrmann's shrieking string score to craft a masterpiece of psychological horror that redefined the slasher genre.
