Sense and Sensibility

Georgia Oakley, whose debut feature Blue Jean earned her a BAFTA nomination, directs this new screen version of Jane Austen's first novel from a script by the novelist Diana Reid. Daisy Edgar-Jones plays the restrained Elinor Dashwood and Esmé Creed-Miles her quick-feeling sister Marianne, with George MacKay as Edward Ferrars, Caitríona Balfe as their mother and Fiona Shaw as Mrs. Jennings. Sense and Sensibility comes from Focus Features and Working Title, the team behind the studios' earlier Pride & Prejudice and Emma, and follows the sisters through love, loss and money trouble after they leave the family estate in Sussex.
