Six: The Musical

The six wives of Henry VIII reframe their historical narratives as a high-energy pop concert in Six: The Musical. Bypassing traditional biographical theater, Toby Marlow and Lucy Moss’s hit production casts the Tudor queens as a fiercely competitive girl group, each taking the microphone to detail her specific grievances against the infamous monarch. The touring cast arriving at the Van Wezel Performing Arts Hall relies on aggressive choreography and a booming, electronic score that models its heroines after contemporary pop stars like Beyoncé and Ariana Grande. The staging functions as a fast-paced, glitter-soaked reclamation of female history, completely discarding the fourth wall in favor of a direct stadium-tour aesthetic.
