Tchaikovsky & Strauss

Van Wezel Performing Arts Hall The Sarasota Orchestra pairs late-Romantic elegance with seasonal magic during this symphonic concert at the Van Wezel Performing Arts Hall. The program dedicates significant attention to Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky, culminating in selections from Act II of The Nutcracker. The familiar celesta lines of the "Dance of the Sugarplum Fairy" and the sweeping strings of the "Waltz of the Flowers" showcase the ensemble's precision. The orchestra balances the Russian composer's ballet suites with the stately waltzes and vibrant polkas of the Strauss family, resulting in an evening of rich, melodic orchestral showpieces.
