Slow Looking Tour

Focusing on quality of attention over quantity of works, this guided tour at The Ringling devotes an extended period of time to just two or three pieces within the Museum of Art. An educator leads the group through structured visual exercises, asking participants to isolate formal elements, analyze color harmonies, and trace brushwork before delving into historical context or artist biography. By peeling back the habitual impulse to check wall text immediately, the session encourages unhurried personal discovery and shared observation. The approach reveals hidden narratives and technical subtleties that casual visitors routinely miss while moving quickly through large collection galleries.
