Straight No Chaser

The ten-man a cappella ensemble Straight No Chaser brings its intricate vocal arrangements to the Van Wezel Performing Arts Hall. Completely eschewing instrumental backing, the group builds complex rhythmic and harmonic structures using only their voices, covering everything from contemporary pop hits and classic R&B to their signature, highly syncopated holiday mashups. The performance relies heavily on sharp comedic timing and synchronized choreography to bridge the gap between their technically demanding vocal runs. The concert offers a fast-paced, highly polished masterclass in close-harmony singing, proving that precise vocal mechanics can command a major theater without the aid of a rhythm section.
