Sarasota County Schools Student Calendar Committee

Which days students attend, and where breaks fall, are drafted by a working group at Sarasota County Schools called the Student Calendar Committee, which gathers in a room at the district's Landings Boulevard offices. Board materials describe it as preparing the student calendar, generally for two years at a time, with instructional and classified employees, an administrator, a teacher and a parent or community member. Its 2025-26 and 2026-27 calendars were advertised for public feedback before School Board adoption; the board item said members aimed to make the most of learning opportunities, limit disruption and satisfy state statutes.
