The Commodores

The heavy funk basslines and smooth R&B ballads of the 1970s anchor the evening as The Commodores take the stage at the Van Wezel Performing Arts Hall. The veteran ensemble, featuring original members William King and Walter Orange, utilizes a massive rhythm section and a live horn brigade to recreate the complex, groove-oriented arrangements of hits like "Brick House" and "Machine Gun." The setlist seamlessly pivots from aggressive, instrumental funk jams to the soaring vocal harmonies of their defining slow dances. The concert delivers a loud, relentlessly upbeat masterclass in the foundational elements of classic American soul music.
