The Misanthrope

A modern reimagining of Molière’s dark comedy takes the screen in this National Theatre Live broadcast. Adapted by playwright Martin Crimp and directed by Indhu Rubasingham, the London production stars Sandra Oh as Alice, a successful novelist who refuses to participate in the hypocrisies of contemporary society. Her insistence on blunt honesty triggers a fierce backlash from her peers, testing the personal cost of speaking the truth. The Ringling hosts this high-definition cinema presentation of the stage play, offering a sharp, updated take on a classic satirical work that skewers the carefully constructed lies of the cultural elite.
