The Response

Based entirely on actual military transcripts, the 2009 courtroom drama The Response reenacts the Combatant Status Review Tribunals held at Guantanamo Bay. Directed by Adam Rodgers, the film centers on a panel of three military judges deciding the fate of an enemy combatant following the September 11 attacks. Rather than focusing on battlefield action, the tight narrative stays inside the hearing room, stripping the political rhetoric down to a stark debate over evidence, human rights and the boundaries of legal procedure in wartime.
