The Wiz (Touring)

A score by Charlie Smalls that moves between soul, gospel, rock and '70s funk drives The Wiz, a musical retelling of The Wizard of Oz that opened on Broadway in 1975 and won seven Tonys, best musical among them. This touring edition descends from the revival that played the Marquis Theatre in 2024, with Schele Williams directing, JaQuel Knight, the choreographer behind Beyoncé's "Single Ladies," setting the dances, and Amber Ruffin credited with additional material. It stops at the Van Wezel Performing Arts Hall.
