2026 – 2027 Speaker Season Pass: 100 Years of Sarasota School

Architecture Sarasota launches its annual lecture series with a comprehensive focus on the centennial of the Sarasota School of Architecture. Held at the organization's downtown headquarters, the seasonal program brings together preservationists, historians, and practicing designers to evaluate the legacy of mid-century modernism on the Gulf Coast. Rather than a single lecture, this ongoing series examines how architects like Paul Rudolph and Victor Lundy adapted international geometric principles to Florida’s intense subtropical climate. The discussions dissect the movement's defining features—such as passive cooling, glass pavilions, and deep overhangs—while addressing the contemporary challenges of preserving these aging historical structures.
