Beehive – The 60s Musical

The shifting cultural landscape of the 1960s is chronicled through the defining hits of female artists in Beehive - The 60s Musical, staged by the Westcoast Black Theatre Troupe. Directed by Jim Weaver, the ensemble-driven production tracks the evolution of pop music from the innocent, harmonized sound of early girl groups to the raw, politically charged anthems of the late decade. A cast of six women tackles a massive catalog, recreating the distinct vocal styling and elaborate hairstyles of icons like Tina Turner, Aretha Franklin, and Janis Joplin. The fast-paced revue requires immense vocal stamina and tight choreography, serving as an energetic historical retrospective.
