Best of the Backlist Book Club: “Mrs. Dalloway” by Virginia Woolf

The Best of the Backlist Book Club gathers at Bookstore1Sarasota to dissect Virginia Woolf’s modernist touchstone, Mrs. Dalloway. The discussion focuses on Woolf’s pioneering stream-of-consciousness narrative, tracing a single day in the life of a high-society London woman preparing for a party following World War I. Attendees will analyze how the novel masterfully intertwines Clarissa Dalloway’s internal monologues with the psychological trauma of the veteran Septimus Smith. The meeting offers a structured environment to untangle the book’s complex treatment of time, memory, and existential dread.
