Serial Readers Book Club: “The Unselected Journals of Emma M. Lion: Vol. 4”

The Serial Readers Book Club continues its ongoing journey through Beth Brower’s episodic Victorian fiction, meeting at Bookstore1Sarasota to discuss The Unselected Journals of Emma M. Lion: Vol. 4. Because the group has followed the protagonist through previous installments, the conversation bypasses basic exposition to immediately analyze Emma’s escalating social predicaments in the London neighborhood of St. Crispian's. Readers will examine Brower’s sharp, witty voice and the structural challenges of maintaining narrative momentum in a serialized journal format. The dedicated club setting allows fans of the niche historical comedy to dissect recurring character dynamics in real time.
