Candlelight: Coldplay & Imagine Dragons

A local string quartet adapts the catalogs of two contemporary pop-rock bands for a chamber setting inside St. Boniface Episcopal Church. The Candlelight program alternates between the anthemic melodies of Coldplay—including stripped-down versions of "Clocks" and "Viva la Vida"—and the percussive, driving hits of Imagine Dragons, such as "Radioactive" and "Believer." Thousands of flameless candles illuminate the Siesta Key sanctuary, stripping away the stadium-sized production these songs are known for to highlight the underlying compositional structures through the interplay of two violins, a viola, and a cello.
