Come From Away

Venice Theatre – Jervey MainStage Returning to its newly renovated Jervey Theatre following hurricane reconstruction, Venice Theatre mounts the hit documentary musical Come From Away. The ensemble-driven show reconstructs the true story of Gander, Newfoundland, a small town that absorbed thousands of stranded airline passengers when American airspace closed after the September 11 attacks. Using a propulsive folk-rock score and a fluid staging where actors constantly switch roles between locals and travelers, the musical examines how an isolated community managed a sudden, overwhelming crisis. The production relies on minimal sets and rapid character transitions to capture the tension and unexpected bonds forged during the multi-day grounding.
