Dracula

Adapted by Ren Pearson, this interpretation of Bram Stoker’s Gothic horror novel leans into the visceral and psychological elements of the classic myth. Staged in the black box space at The Players Studio, the production deliberately distances itself from the suave, cape-wearing Bela Lugosi archetype. The script focuses on the pervasive dread, obsession, and primal fears that the Count awakens in his victims. Because of the intimate room setup, the staging amplifies the sensory intensity, incorporating strobe lights, gunfire, and theatrical blood. The performance strips away campy vampire clichés to emphasize the genuine terror and darkness lurking just beneath Victorian social structures.
