Golden Groovers: The Music of Stevie Wonder

A dedicated matinee concert at the Van Wezel Performing Arts Hall celebrates the extensive, genre-defining catalog of Motown legend Stevie Wonder. The backing band and lead vocalists work through the artist's most critically acclaimed periods, specifically focusing on the complex chord progressions and driving funk rhythms of his 1970s masterpieces. The performers recreate the unmistakable sound of the Clavinet and the soaring harmonica solos that became Wonder's sonic signatures. The daytime tribute carefully navigates the line between joyful, upbeat pop anthems and the socially conscious, harmonically sophisticated soul music that cemented the original songwriter's place in American musical history.
