In-Studio: SCDE in Evilyn Scrooge, composed by Alex Dilan, choreographed by SCD, and performed by SCDE

The emerging dancers of the Sarasota Contemporary Dance Ensemble present a modern retelling of a Dickens classic within the company’s home studio. Titled Evilyn Scrooge, the production features original choreography by the main company members set to a commissioned score by local composer Alex Dilan. The intimate black-box environment removes the distance between the performers and the audience, allowing an up-close view of the athletic, contemporary movement. The performance showcases the technical progress of the pre-professional ensemble while reimagining the traditional holiday redemption narrative through an abstract, modern dance vocabulary.
