Indigenous Voices Book Club: “Ceremony” by Leslie Marmon Silko

Bookstore1Sarasota hosts a deep dive into Leslie Marmon Silko’s seminal 1977 novel Ceremony. As part of the Indigenous Voices Book Club, the group examines the story of Tayo, a World War II veteran returning to the Laguna Pueblo reservation who must turn to traditional Native healing practices to survive his severe combat trauma. The session centers on how Silko weaves folklore, poetry and non-linear storytelling to address cultural dislocation and the psychological scars of assimilation.
