Moonlit Paddle – Kayaking with Mote

Instructors from Mote Marine Laboratory & Aquarium lead this nighttime kayaking excursion across the shallow grass flats of Sarasota Bay. Paddlers navigate the coastal waters under the moonlight, discovering a rare vantage point to observe the nocturnal behaviors of the estuary's marine life. The guided tour focuses on identifying the specific species that become active after dark, from hunting wading birds to the movement of fish and crustaceans just below the surface. Equipment and safety gear are provided on site, allowing participants to explore the calm, darkened bayou while learning about local conservation efforts directly from environmental educators.
