Provenance

Asolo Repertory Theatre presents Provenance, a world premiere drama staged at the Jane B. Cook Theatre. The play spans a century and crosses continents, tracing the extraordinary history of a single painting from its creation in early 1900s Germany to its theft by the Nazis, and its eventual surfacing in New Jersey in 2007. Built upon a unique theatrical structure, the narrative links intimate personal stories to the grand arc of history. Visitors will experience a thought-provoking theatrical performance exploring how a piece of art affects the lives of different generations and whether what was lost can ever truly be recovered.
