Recent & Remarkable Book Club: “On the Calculation of Volume (Book 1)”

Elsie Souza leads a discussion on Danish author Solvej Balle’s On the Calculation of Volume (Book I) for the Recent & Remarkable Book Club at Bookstore1Sarasota. Translated by Barbara J. Haveland, the speculative novel follows a rare book dealer trapped in a time loop, doomed to repeat November 18th endlessly. Rather than focusing on plot-driven action, the narrative serves as a quiet, philosophical meditation on marriage, isolation, and the passage of time. The gathering allows readers to dissect the first installment of Balle's celebrated seven-part literary series.
