Serial Readers Book Club: “The Unselected Journals of Emma M. Lion: Vol. 7”

The Serial Readers Book Club gathers at Bookstore1Sarasota for a focused discussion on Beth Brower’s The Unselected Journals of Emma M. Lion: Vol. 7. Because the group has tracked the protagonist through the previous six volumes, the conversation bypasses introductory exposition to dive directly into Emma’s escalating social entanglements in the Victorian neighborhood of St. Crispian's. Readers analyze Brower’s sharp epistolary format, evaluating how the author balances deadpan humor with genuine character development across a serialized narrative. The dedicated meeting allows fans of historical comedy to dissect the ongoing plot threads and shifting community dynamics in real time.
