Southern Cities: Shared Futures, City #2

Architecture Sarasota continues its "Southern Cities: Shared Futures" lecture series, shifting the focus to a second rapidly developing metropolitan area in the American South. Hosted at the Church of the Redeemer Episcopal, the urban planning discussion examines how peer municipalities are navigating explosive population growth, climate resilience, and housing affordability. By studying the successes and missteps of comparable regional cities, local architects and civic leaders can draw direct parallels to the ongoing development pressures reshaping the Gulf Coast. The civic symposium moves beyond theoretical design, offering pragmatic case studies on how neighboring urban centers are balancing historic preservation with massive infrastructure demands.
