The Art Of…A Fireside Chat with Jake Fernandez

Painter Jake Fernandez discusses his meticulous approach to capturing the Florida landscape during this morning conversation at ArtCenter Manatee. Known for constructing massive, hyper-detailed environments out of multiple painted panels, Fernandez will detail the intense observation and mathematical precision required to assemble his composite views of swamps and woodlands. The casual dialogue format allows the artist to explain how he translates hundreds of individual photographs and field studies into a single cohesive piece, offering insight into a process that blurs the line between photorealism and optical illusion.
